Once in a deep jungle, there lived an elephant family. The little elephant Chinnu was a curious animal. He wanted to learn and see new things. Chinnu was not afraid of talking to other animals in the forest. One day Chinnu met an eagle.  Chinnu asked the eagle, "Where is your home?"

The eagle replied, “Oh little elephant! My house is far away!"

Chinnu asked, "How far?"

The eagle said, "Quite far from this place!"

Chinnu kept asking questions to the eagle, "Where is your home? Will you show me your home? I want to see new places!" The eagle was surprised about the curiosity of the little elephant. But, the eagle knew that it is not possible to take Chinnu to his home.

He replied, “Dear little elephant, do you know the mountains with waterfalls at the far end of this jungle? My house is there!"

Chinnu asked, " What is waterfalls?"

The eagle told, " Water will be falling from mountain. You can shower happily on the waterfalls. It is an enjoyable experience!"

Chinnu wondered, "I have never seen waterfalls, I have always bathed in the river. I want to come with you."

"Oh no! You should not immediately go with any stranger like this. You should go to places only with your parents!" said the eagle. Saying this and adding that "I need to take food for my little birds. See you little elephant", the eagle flew away.

Chinnu told himself, "I will ask mommy that I want to shower in waterfalls".

He asked his mother that he want to shower in waterfalls. His mother also felt that it is not possible for them to go to the waterfalls. Chinnu kept asking, "Waterfalls, Waterfalls,  I want to shower in waterfalls!"

Chinnu's father returned home bringing food. The mother elephant told about Chinnu’s wish. The father elephant got an idea. He dug a small pit in the ground. He placed a big tub on that pit and filled it with water. He asked Chinnu to sit in that big tub. Now he went to the river and filled his trunk with water. He showered water from his trunk on Chinnu. Chinnu enjoyed the shower. Chinnu's father told him,”Chinnu! A shower in the waterfall will be like this! Once you are grown up, you can cross the river and go to the waterfalls and take bath!”. Chinnu happily agreed to his father.

Moral:  Somethings are better done at the appropriate age. Do not rush to drive a motor vehicle until you reach the driving age limit. Exploring new things and places is good but always follow the guidance of parents and elders.

Let Go Ego

Let Go Ego

In the village of Nimbur, there lived two brothers Thaanu and Seenu. They had a big herd of sheep. They also had a cow at their home. Thaanu and Seenu took their turn to take care of their cow.  One evening, their cow went missing.

Thaanu said to Seenu, “The cow is missing, please go and find her". Seenu replied, "No! No! You go and find her". Thaanu said, "I am your elder brother, you should obey me. Go and find the cow now!" Seenu refused to go. Both got into an argument. After some time, Thaanu said, “Do not speak to me!” Seenu replied, "You do not speak to me!" Thaanu said to Seenu, “Okay, I agree, we will not speak with each other. Whomever speaks first, he has to go find the cow."

Seenu nodded head as he agreed to this decision. He did not speak a word. He went out and sat on the porch. Hours later, it became too dark and they have not lit up the house. A thief entered their house from the back door. He walked up the stairs. Thaanu heard the voice, but he did not make a sound. He was afraid that he will have to go searching the cow if he spoke first. Few minutes passed, their neighbor’s kid Janu came with a bowl in hand. He told Seenu that he has brought hot porridge in bowl for them.

Seenu did not reply him. He showed his hand inside. Janu thought Seenu is asking to go inside the home, so he walked in. In the dark, he could not see clearly.  Janu found Thaanu sitting in the hall.

Janu told Thaanu he has brought the hot porridge. Thaanu showed his index finger pointing above his head to make the boy look at the stairs that the thief is there. The boy misunderstood Thaanu's sign, he placed the hot porridge bowl on Thaanu's head. Thaanu shouted due to the hot porridge “Aah".

Hearing his brother's voice, Seenu rushed into the house. Seeing the hot porridge on Thaanu's head, Seenu asked, "What happened?". Janu replied, “ He asked me to place the hot porridge bowl in his head!”

Thaanu replied " Seenu ! You spoke first ! Go find the cow !".

Seenu said angrily, ”Idiot, you have hot porridge on your head and it will be burning your hair and scalp. Ignoring your pain for the sake of ego, you are asking me to find the cow! Take the bowl from your head!” Thaanu replied, “Janu! There was a thief upstairs, I was asking you to see him by showing hand above! Not to put the porridge bowl on my head!” Seenu was furious, “ a thief, why did not you tell earlier, he could take all our things! Come, let’s search him!” They all started looking for him with a torch.

At the same time, their cow returned from the fields and the thief was trying to take the cow also. The cow made the sound, "Moo ! Moo !", hearing that sound, both the brothers rushed to the back yard.

They caught the thief and got back their cow. Seenu and Thaanu realized that ego can spoil their lives. If both have not talked, the thief might have gone with their cow and belongings in home. Thaanu and Seenu lived united as the best brothers in the village.

Moral : Let go of your ego in relationship. 

The girl and the crocodile

The girl and the crocodile

Once there was a girl named Anju lived in a house near the river. Her father is a fisherman and he caught fishes from the river and sold them in the near by village. Anju used to play near the banks of the river with her Teddy Bear. One day, when she was playing near, she saw some little crocodile stranded near a small rock. She was afraid to go near the crocodile. But, at the same time,she wanted to help  the crocodile. She called in a soft voice to wake him up. The crocodile could barely open his eyes. The crocodile said in a murmuring voice, "I am hungry!". She asked, "Do you eat fish?". The crocodile replied, "Yes!". So, she went inside her home, and brought some fish for the crocodile and threw it near the rock. The crocodile ate the fish she gave and gained some energy to get up. He thanked her and swam in the river. Days passed by, one day while playing, Anju's Teddy Bear fell into the river and was swept away from her. She wept to lost her friend whom she used to playwith. The  crocodile in the river saw the Teddy Bear floating in the river, he grabbed it and thought he would present this to Anju. He swam near Anju's house and kept the Teddy Bear near the bank. Anju came out of her house and became happy to see her friend Teddy Bear back again. She looked at the river and saw the crocodile waving at her. Anju realized that the crocodile has brought her Teddy bear back and thanked him.


Moral : A good deed is always repaid with a good deed.

Beauty and Songy

Beauty and Songy

Once in an old oak tree, there lived two birds, a blue jay bird named Beauty and a yellow canary bird named Songy. On a breezy evening, songy started to sing. Beauty wanted to retire for bed after her dinner. But due to the continuous singing of Songy, she could not fall sleep. So, she asked Songy to stop her singing. But Songy did not listen to her words and kept singing. Beauty put on her earmuffs and tried to sleep. After some time, Songy's throat started aching, her voice changed. He could not sing anymore. Beauty realized that Songy has got a sore throat to continuous singing. Beauty said, "I asked you to slow down your singing, you affected your throat!". Songy could not speak now. She signed in action, "Beauty, please help me!". Beauty agreed to help her and responded," I have no pepper at home, so I will make a warm corn soup for your throat. Have it and rest well!" Songy had the soup and went to sleep. Next morning, Songy was able to speak and sing and she woke Beauty with a melodious song. Songy thanked Beauty for her help and understood that she should not be doing something to disturb their neighbours.

Moral: Keep the volume down on your television, never disturb your neighbours. Loud noise can cause damage to your own ears also. Too much of anything is good for anything.

Do not play!

 Do Not Play!

Cheenu was playing by turning and stopping the switches of the mixer grinder kept in the kitchen. His sister Ammu said to him, "Cheenu, do not play in the switches of the electrical appliances, you cannot predict the power supply in the electrical circuit, it is more likely to cause the danger of electrical shock. She also advised Seenu that the mixer grinder would be ruined, and electricity would be wasted. Cheenu replied, "Ok Ammu, I will not play in the switches." Ammu said, "That's a good boy," she smiled and gave a pat on the cheek. They went to the hall and started playing with their toys. After some time, Cheenu went to the kitchen to drink water.  He saw the mixer grinder, his hands tempted playfully, and he turned on the switches of the mixer. Knowing his mischievous pranks, his mother has removed the plug from the socket, so the mixer did not start. So, he drank water and went away. Then, their grandmother wanted to make tomato juice and put the tomato in a mixed jar and connected the plug and tried to turn on the switch. Since the mixer switch has been already turned on by Cheenu, the mixer started to run in its speed and threw the jar lid away and splashed tomato juice all over. "Gosh!" Hearing the grandmother's voice, Ammu and Cheenu ran to the kitchen. Ammu asked, "What happened grandmother?" Their grandmother replied that the mixer switch was turned on earlier, and she had noticed it.  Hearing this, Ammu looked at Cheenu. She said, "See Cheenu, I told you not to play with the switches. Tomato juice has splashed and spilled out, think what would have happened if Grandma tried to grind masala? The spicy masala could irritate grandma’s eyes and skin!" Cheenu realized his mistake and apologised to his grandmother, "I learnt a lesson, I would never play with the electrical appliances for the safety of me as well as all in our home!". Ammu and their grandmother smiled and nodded to appreciate his act of change.

Little Drops make the mighty ocean

There was a farmer named Rangan who lived in a small village. He is a hard worker. His land was very fertile and he had dug a deep water well in his land. He made pipe arrangements to collect the rain water in the well. He made piping to direct the water falling over the roof of the house to the well. For the piping work, he spent a little money.

He told the people to do similarly like him to save the rain water. Fearing the money, they did not respond to his advice. Later in the summer, his village was hit by a drought. So all the people in the village suffered of water scarcity. After few days, the people in the village decided to ask their king for help.

The king welcomed them in his court. He asked , "People, I want to know from you one thing first, Did it rain during the monsoon season in your village?"

People replied, "Dear King, Yes, it rained heavily in the season!".

Then the king asked "Why you have water scarcity then? You must have water wells in your village, were not they filled? . The village people replied ,"Oh our mighty king,the wells have gone dry once the Summer started!"

The king asked "Did you saved the water in the well?". People replied that they have not stored rain water so far. The king said to them, "The rain water is our lifesaver." If you had saved your water on your wells today, your village would not have been depleted today.  Now, realize the need for water. Rangan, a farmer in your town, has saved enough of rain water in the well. He has agreed to help you this summer. Do not forget to save the rain again.!"

People realized the need t save rain water and thanked the king and Rangan. From then on they started to save the rain water and lived without water scarcity.

Moral: Little drops make the mighty ocean. Saving rain water helps to avoid water scarcity.

Dimbu the Turtle

Once there was a girl named Anju lived in a house near the river. Her father had a beautiful garden where he grew variety of fruits.  His garden had  tasty strawberries. A turtle named Dimbu lived on the rock in other side of the river. He used to see the colorful garden. He was afraid of going there fearing Anju and her father. But the colorful strawberries attracted him. So, he swam across the river and reached the garden.  When he was about to bite a strawberry from the plant, Anju came out of the house. She saw Dimbu and asked, " Little turtle, are not you ashamed of stealing from our garden? It is a great mistake to steal from someone". Dimbu felt guilty and apologized to her. "I am sorry dear girl, these colorful strawberries attracted me,  forgive me for trying to pick them without asking you!". Anju told, " apologies accepted little turtle, I will give you some strawberries to eat!". My name is Anju, What's your name? She asked. "I am Dimbu!", the turtle replied. "Ok Dimbu, here are some strawberries for you to eat now!. Dimbu ate them and they tasted delicious. Anju told, "Dimbu, I will give you some seeds, you can grow strawberries on your own! You plant them, water them and they will yield you wonderful strawberries for you!" . She got the strawberry seeds and gave to the turtle. Dimbu thanked her and swam back to its rock holding the seeds with him. He followed what Anju said and he planted his own strawberry garden and enjoyed eating delicious strawberries.

Moral: Giving a fish to man feeds him a day but teaching him to fish feeds him forever.

Neela the naughty little princess

Neela the naughty little princess

Once in a small kingdom name Mayil, there lived a little naughty princess Neela. She is fond of making pranks and laughing at others. The King loved decorative water fountains and there were lot of beautiful water fountains constructed in the palace and palace garden. Neela used to play splashing water from the fountain. Neela's mother, the queen advised her not to play in the fountain.

One day she was splashing water from the fountain in the hall. Her mother noticed her and said,
"Neela! How many times I have to tell you? Stop doing that!""Why mom? I love splashing water from the fountain, it's so exciting!" Neela replied."If you want to splash, go and play in the water fountains at the palace garden. Not in the hall, the water spills may not be visible on the marble flooring. Some one can trip on it and get injured!""I understand mom! I will play in the garden!The queen said, "Now, go get a washcloth and wipe the spilled water from here! Then you can go play in the garden!" and she walked towards the king's room.

Neela did not clean up the water spill. She sat in the sofa silently to watch if someone will walk on the water spill.There was an elderly woman who worked as a maid in the palace. Accidentally she tripped on the spilled water and fell down on the floor. Hearing the noise, the queen came out, and asked the maid, "What happened?"" I slipped and fell down on the wet floor. I am afraid I need some help to get up, my legs are paining", the maid replied. The queen called the palace doctor. He checked the elderly maid and told the queen that the maid has a severe sprain in her leg due to the fall. The queen became angry at Neela and warned her again not to splash water from the fountain. Neela did not seem to regret her mistake.

Days passed, the kingdom was celebrating the "Dancing Fountain Day". On that day, people will assemble before the palace garden.  The water fountain will be dancing to the music with lights. Everyone in the palace will also go to see the fountain dance. Neela was playing in the water fountain in the hall. The queen yelled, " Stop it Neela, we are leaving for the fountain dance, if you want to come, be ready soon!".Neela rushed to her room, kept her little crown on her head and came back to the hall."Aaaah!" This time, she tripped on the water she herself splashed from the fountain earlier.She could not get up on her own. She felt it painful. She shouted, " Mom!Mom!"
No one was there to answer. The queen left with the king to sit on the balcony to watch the fountain dance.

The same elderly maid heard Neela's voice, she came to find Neela struggling to get up from the floor. She helped Neela to get up and made her sit in the sofa and went to summon the queen and the palace doctor. Neela realized the pain that the maid might have suffered when she fell down. Now, she repented for her mistake.When the maid came back, she asked "Sorry! It was me who splashed water that day. I won't play inside and spill water like this. Please forgive me!" The maid smiled and replied, " It is okay princess, we know that the children are naughty. Whatever we elders say are for your safety and well-being, so listen to us when we tell you!"The naughty princess Neela listened to her mom always and played in the garden fountain happily.

The Proud Peacock

The Proud Peacock

In a deep forest, there lived a peacock with beautiful feathers. The peacock is proud of its colorful feathers. The peacock himself admires his own beauty. He will boast that he is the most beautiful bird among all other birds in this world.

One day, a cuckoo bird came that way. The peacock saw the cuckoo bird. The cuckoo bird had black color feathers.
The peacock said to the cuckoo bird, “Your feathers are black! You look ugly!”
Hearing these hurting words from the peacock, the cuckoo bird was not angry. 

Instead, the cuckoo bird started singing in his sweet voice. The peacock was amazed by the beautiful song of the cuckoo bird. The peacock also started singing and his voice was ugly. Even the peacock was not able to enjoy the song in his own voice.

The cuckoo bird said to the peacock, “Oh dear peacock, you got colorful feathers, but you cannot sing well. I have black feathers, but I can sing well. We each have our talent as our own gift, and we should appreciate it. We should not take pride and insult others!”

The peacock agreed and it stopped boasting about its beauty.

Moral: Do not compare yourself with others, appreciate your own talent

Evil Friendship

A crow and a pigeon became friends and lived together in a tree. The other birds in the tree told the pigeon that the crow has a bad habit of stealing from others. One day, while sitting on the tree, the two crow and pigeon were talking with each other.

A fruit seller came that way. He had a big basket of fruits on his head. The crow wanted to take a fruit from his basket. So he flew towards the fruit seller. Without knowing the crow's idea, the pigeon also flew along with him.

The crow flew over the fruit seller and suddenly grasped a fruit from his basket. A piece of fruit fell on the ground from his mouth.  The fruit seller looked up and saw the two birds flying above him. He became angry. He picked up a stone from the ground and threw it at them. The pigeon got hurt and fell down. The crow did not stop to look after his fallen friend. The pigeon regretted for having a bad friend with bad habits.

Moral : Nothing is worse than an evil friendship.

The Hungry Mouse

There was a little mouse named Mogey. He was very hungry. Mogey looked for food near his hole. He saw a house with the door open. He entered the house and ran to the store room. There was a big sack of rice. Mogey ran around the rice sack. He found a small hole in the sack.  He got in to the rice sack through the small hole.

Mogey started eating the rice grains and his stomach became full. Mogey thought "So much rice is here, I will eat as much I want!"
He did not stop eating rice. His stomach started becoming big. After sometime, Mogey's stomach became big and round like a ball.Now he could not come out the hole in the rice sack. He started fearing for his life. If someone sees him in the sack, he will be beaten.

In fear, Mogey shouted "Help! Help!". Another mouse heard his voice.
He came and asked " Who is this shouting for help?"
Mogey replied, " I am Mogey, stuck inside the sack! Please pull me out of the hole, I am unable to come out of it!"
The other mouse made a big hole in the sack with his teeth and pulled Mogey out.

Mogey thanked the other mouse. With surprise, it asked Mogey, "How did you go inside the sack?"
Mogey told, "When I went in, my stomach was empty. I easily went inside the sack through the small hole. I became greedy and ate too much and I could not come out!'
The other mouse advised him not to be greedy and left the place. Mogey returned to his hole.

Moral: Too much of anything is good for nothing.

Homework

In a small town named Komal, there was an Elementary School where all the children in the town studied. Kamali and Mellina were classmates. Mellina's father was the village officer of Komal. Her father helps her doing her homework and teaches her lessons in the evening. Kamali's father was a farmer in that village. 

Though her father could read and write and do basic mathematical calculations, he was not able to help in Kamali's homework. Some days Kamali came to the class without completing the homework given by teacher. Mellina did not like Kamali, but Kamali wanted to befriend her. Whenever Kamali tried to speak with Mellina, she turned her head away and left the place. This hurted Kamali but she did not tell this to anyone.

On a sunday evening, Kamali was returning back from her father's farm. In the school ground, Mellina was flying a kite which her father got from the town. Kamali went near Mellina and asked, " Mellina, may I also join with you to fly kite?"
Mellina replied," No!"
Kamali said, "I also like kite flying. Please Mellina, may I join you?"
Mellina with a hatred look replied, " I do not like people who arenot doing their homework regularly!"
Kamali with tears in her eyes, " My parents are not educated as like yours. They are unable to help me with homework!"
Mellina did not reply to this. Kamali sadly left the place.
Mellina was flying kite alone for sometime. Wind blew heavily and the kite's thread cut off and the kite flew apart.

After searching it for sometime, Mellina found the kite stuck in a tree branch. She do not know how to climb a tree and became worried about getting the kite down. Mellina is afraid to climb on the tree. Without knowing what to do, she stood near the tree. Kamali saw this from her home. She came out and climbed the tree easily . She got the kite from the branch and gave it to Mellina. She thanked Kamali and wondered how she could climb the tree without fear.

Kamali said, " I climb trees to pull twig of leaves for feeding our goats. I am not afraid to climb on trees and I am not afraid to help anyone who is in need."
Those words touched Mellina's heart. She also learnt that she should be helpful to one who is in need. Mellina and Kamali started to study together. Kamali was appreciated by her teacher for finishing homework daily. Mellina and Kamali became inseparable friends and successful in their classes.

Moral: Helping one in  need is equal to helping God.

Look Before You Leap

A frog named Papu and a butterfly named Ranju are best friends. They lived near a river. There were lot of little insects in the river bank and Papu ate them for his food. Ranju had his food from the nectar of flowers in the forest. One day, Papu was sitting on a rock, Ranju came and sat in a leaf of a plant near the rock.

"Papu, I am bored here" said Ranju.
"Why Ranju? I like this place and the calmness" Papu replied.
"I want to see the town and the life there. I am going now"
"Ranju, I will not let you go alone! Let us go together!"
"Keep in mind Ranju, there may be dangers for us in new place. We should be careful. It will not be same as our home."
" I am not expecting any danger Papu" Ranju told with bold voice.

They both started their journey. Papu hopped and Ranju flew along with him. They reached the end of forest, some house appeared at distance.
"Wow! we reached the town!" Ranju told happily.
"Keep your voice down Ranju, do not attract anyone's attention on us!" said Papu cautiously.
There was a pond there with a beautiful lotus flower in it.  Seeing that, Ranju became more excited and told Papu, "That flower is very beautiful. The nectar should be very sweet. I am going there!"

"Stop Ranju, you may be stuck in the pond! Do not go!" said Papu.
"You are always afraid to try new things Papu" Ranju flew there to the lotus.
When it reached the lotus, there were some bees on the lotus collecting the nectar. They attacked Ranju.
Ranju's one leg got broken. He could not move now.

Papu was waiting for Ranju to come back. When Ranju did not come back for a long time, Papu realised that Ranju might be in trouble. Luckily, Appu the elephant came near that pond to drink water.

"Appu brother! My friend Ranju has got stuck in the lotus, please help him!"
"Do not worry Papu, with my trunk, I will take him to the bank!"
With Appu's help, Ranju was able to come to the pond's bank. Papu gave him first aid and asked him to rest for sometime. They both thanked Appu.

Appu advised Ranju to be careful while stepping in to new places. He drank water and left to his place Ranju felt sorry for not listening to Papu's words. Papu carried Ranju on his back to the forest. Ranju's leg healed in a week and he flew happily drinking nectar in flowers of the forest. Both the friends lived happily thereafter.

Moral : Look before you leap.  Always think thoroughly if you are doing the correct thing before doing it.

The Flower Picker

Once in a small town, a boy named Vinu lived. He went to the park every evening to play. His mother will give him some snacks to eat at the park. He would play in the park and when he became tired, he would eat the snacks.When the spring season came, the park looked beautiful with all flowers. He started picking flowers from the park. The Park guard placed a sign board saying "Do not pluck the flowers". Vinu came to the park as usual in the evening. He saw the board. Vinu did not obey to the sign.

He started plucking the flowers. There were lot of bees collecting nectar from the flowers. Vinu kept plucking the flowers daily. The bees decided to teach him a lesson. They went to the little dog named Pito of the Park guard. The Bees told him that Vinu has been plucking all the flowers in the park which will affect their nectar collection. Pito agreed to help. Next day, when Vinu came, Pito followed him and hid behind a plant. Vinu kept the snack box in the park bench and started playing. Without his knowledge, Pito grabbed the snacks box and ate all the snacks. He kept back the box in the same bench and left.

Vinu became tired, he sat in the bench and opened his snack box.
"Alas! The snack box was empty!" Vinu was shocked to see his empty snack box.
He could not see anyone around. He wondered how the snack box became empty. He remembered that his mommy kept cream biscuits in the box.  Next evening also Pito came and ate his snacks.

A week passed by, still Vinu's snacks were missing. Vinu decided to hide and see if someone is coming to take his snacks. He saw Pito taking his snack box, he came running to catch him. Pito ran with the snack box upto the tallest tree in the park. Vinu also reached near Pito.

"Why are you stealing my snack?"
"Why are you stealing the food of bees?"
"What are you saying?"
"Look above. See, there is a bee hive. There are lot of bees living in the hive feeding on nectar from flowers in the park." You are plucking flowers everyday. How will the bees will have food then? If you kill all the flowers, the park will be ugly. Do you know that? Pito told angrily

Vinu realised that he was spoiling the food of bees and spoiling the beauty of the park. He felt sorry for plucking the flowers and told Pito that he will not pluck flowers again. Pito returned his snack box. Vinu shared his snack with Pito. They both became friends. The park looked beautiful with colorful flowers with the bees buzzing happily thereafter.

Moral: Show love to other living creatures and respect their life.

An Equal Share

Once in a village named Kunoor, there lived two brothers Ramu and Somu. They inherited their father’s wealth. Ramu and Somu shared their father's house, land and all properties. Two things were left. One is a thick wool blanket and other one is a cow. Ramu and Somu wondered how to share them equally. 

Ramu said to Somu, “I am your elder brother. I will do whatever is good for us both. Will you accept my decision?” Somu is an innocent person. He said to Ramu, "Ok brother, I will accept your decision on sharing the cow and the blanket". Ramu said, “I will take the back portion of cow and you take the front portion of the cow. For the blanket, I will use it on night and you use it in the morning. Can we agree on this?” Somu agreed without even thinking for a second.

 Somu fed the cow with grass as the front portion belonged to him. He could not use the blanket to cover him since it made him to sweat a lot in the day time. In the evening, Ramu milked the cow and took all the milk for him. Also, he got the blanket from Somu and took it to sleep. Somu was not able to get even a small cup of milk to drink. He did not have blanket to cover him and he slept in cold. Next day, he told Ramu about this. Ramu replied, "You have agreed to my decision. Now we cannot change anything." 

A week passed. Somu felt helpless. He visited his father's friend. He advised Somu to do some things to change Ramu's decision. Somu agreed to follow his advice and returned back to home. For the following two days, Somu did not feed the cow and the cow became very tired and week. 

When Ramu milked the cow, he could not get a drop of milk. He realized that Somu has not fed the cow, he became angry. Ramu asked Somu, “Why you did not feed the cow?". Somu replied, “It is my front portion, I will feed or I won't, that's my choice!". 

When Ramu asked him the blanket, Somu handed him the wet blanket. Ramu angrily asked “Why the blanket is so wet?". Somu replied, “It belongs to me in the day time, so I soaked it in water. I have agreed to your decision and there is no need to change anything".

 Ramu understood that Somu was demanding equal and fair share of them. Ramu apologized to Somu for being cunning to him and agreed to share the cow and the blanket equally. The brothers took care of the cow together and got the milk and shared it. They used the blanket at night. Ramu and Somu lived together happily.

Moral: Greed can result in loss of what you have.

Rain Water

Rain Water

Rangan is a farmer in a small village. He is a hard working person. He lived near his farm. His land has a deep well. Apart from the ground water, he thought that the rain water can be collected in the well. After spending a little money for buying pipes, Rangan set up the pipes in the roof and made rain water falling on the roof to run through the tube and then into the well. Rainy season started and rain water reached well. He advised the people in the town to set up rain water pipes on the roof so that they can also save rain water.

They did not listen to his words. They made fun of him and they ignored his advice. They considered it is waste of money to set up rain water harvesting pipes. Summer season started. All of the water resources became drained. Lakes and ponds became empty. So all the people in the village were troubled with water scarcity .The villagers decided to ask the village chief to help them. The chief asked them " Did your village get rain during rainy season?".

People replied that they got good rainfall in that year's rainy season . Then the chief asked, " Why was this drought if there was good rainfall?"

The villagers told that the lakes and ponds became empty. The chief asked again, " Whether you are storing rain water in the well ?"

The villagers said " No! We did not save rainwater"

He told them: " Water is our life saver, rain water is invaluable resource, If you have saved the rain water, insufficiency should not have occurred today .
The villagers felt sorry for not realizing the need to save water . The chief continued, Rangan, a farmer in your village has stored rain water in the well in his farm. He has accepted to offer water to your entire village this summer.
He advised that villagers to save rain water and reduce water wastage. People realized that they need to save water and saying thank you to chief and Rangan. They all returned to the village and rain water harvesting pipes were set in every house. They all began to save water and lived happily.

Moral: Little drops of water make the mighty ocean. Rain water harvesting is one of  the best method to save water.

Find a Friend

Find a Friend

Once in a small village, there lived a small goat named Goki. He is very mischievous goat. So, none of the goats in the village wanted to make friends with Goki. He got bored and he decided to make new friends. Goki walked towards the jungle. One old goat saw him and stopped, "Goki, do not go into the jungle! It will be dangerous to be there! Big animals are there!” Goki replied to the old goat that it will find a new friend and come back. The old goat was unable to stop him.

After walking in to the jungle, Goki saw a Giraffe eating leaves from the branch of a tall tree. Giraffe asked Goki, "Who are you? Why are you here? Goki replied, " I am Goki the goat, I am here to find a friend " Giraffe asked "Can I be your friend?" "No, you are so tall. You cannot be my friend", said Goki and walked away from the Giraffe.

Goki continued walking and found an elephant munching leaves. Elephant was asking the same question asked by Giraffe to Goki. When Goki replied that he has come to jungle to find a friend, Elephant asked if he can be Goki's friend. Goki replied "No, you are so big and fat, you cannot be my friend".

He kept going into the jungle; he saw a rabbit near a bush. The rabbit asked about Goki and he replied that he is looking for a friend. Rabbit also asked Goki, if he can be his friend. Goki said to the rabbit, “No! No! You are small and timid! You cannot be my friend!".

Goki kept walking and he found a fox. The fox also asked the same question to Goki and he replied that Goki came there to find a friend. Then the fox asked Goki, "Can I be your friend?” Goki thought for a second, “You are not so tall, not so fat, and not so small, you will be my friend". The fox said to Goki, “We became friends, let us celebrate with a party at my home. Then, I will show you green pastures. You can graze as much you want". Goki happily accepted and went along with the fox. The fox took Goki to his cave and ate him. The poor goat Goki lost his life by choosing a wrong friend.

Moral: Never decide your friends by appearances, decide your friends by their character.

Bitter Juice

Bitter Juice

There was a small boy named Meju in the town Vavi. Meju has a bad of habit of telling lies. Even for the smallest thing, he will tell a lie. His father and mother tried a lot of methods to change his behavior. They advised him. They beat him. None of them could change Meju. He was always lying to anyone he spoke.

One day, Meju's mother met with his school teacher in the market. She told the teacher about his behavior and he is not changing. Teacher asked Meju's mother to meet him in the school along with Meju. Also, the teacher told, Meju's mother may have to face a little difficulty for sometime till Meju changes. Meju's mother accepted that since she wanted Meju should not be a liar.

The next day, Meju and his mother went to school to meet the teacher. Teacher said to Meju's mother, " Madam, you are worried that Meju's lying, here is a bottle of tasty juice. Whenever he is found lying, you please have a sip of this juice. You will feel better. But, do not give this to Meju and please keep this aside of his sight". Meju's mother thanked his teacher and went to home. Whenever, Meju lied to his mother, she drank a sip of juice and said "Aha !" , after drinking she hid the juice in the kitchen shelf. Meju was so curious about the juice his mother was drinking.

When his mother was talking to their neighbor, he went in to the kitchen. He pulled a chair to the kitchen. He climbed over the kitchen shelf and opened the shelf door. He found the juice bottle. He took it and climbed down. He walked to the backyard, sat under a tree. He opened the bottle and drank a sip of it. The juice was not sweet as he expected. It was too bitter. He spit the juice out. He was wondering how mother would enjoy such a bitter juice.

When he was about to place it back in the kitchen, his mother came in. Meju turned and asked his mother , "Momma, how are you drinking this bitter juice?". His mother replied, " Meju, this juice is better than your lies. Your lies make me feel so bitter in my heart". Meju realized his mistake. He felt sorry for being a liar and making his mother to suffer because of his lies. Now , Meju has changed to a good person and speaks truth always. Meju and his parents lived happily.

Moral : A man who speaks truth will have a peaceful and successful life. A man who lies have to suffer because of his lies.

Nail On the Wall

Nail On the Wall

A saint visited the small town Pudur. There was a rich man who welcomed him to his house . The rich man expressed his problem to the saint.
"Swamiji, I am getting angry for even small matters. What is the way to control my anger?" the rich man asked.
The saint asked the rich man, "Which room in your home is your most favorite room?
The rich man said that his favorite room is the drawing room of his house.

The drawing room had beautiful art, paintings and decorative items in the walls. Indeed, it was the most beautiful room. Then the saint turned back to the rich man’s wife and said, “whenever your husband is angry, hammer a nail in the wall of this room every time. A week later I will come and meet you!” He left the rich man's house after saying this advice.

"What it this? This saint is asking to hit a nail on the wall in my beautiful drawing room!" said the rich man angrily. His wife took the first nail and hit it on the wall. Whenever he got angry, his wife hit the nail on the wall. On the whole, she had to hit a total of fourteen nails on the first day. The next day, whenever the rich man became angry, she kept hitting the nails on the wall. There were ten nails at the end of the second day. On the third day, it reduced to six nails. 

Due to continuous hitting of nails, a small crack appeared in the wall on the fourth day. Large cracks in the wall could make the room completely ruined. The rich man wanted to stop his wife hammering the nail in the wall. He did not want to destroy the wall spoiling his most favorite drawing room. He began to remain quiet whenever he became angry. There was no need to hit the nail at the end of the fifth day. Gradually he wanted peace of mind and stopped becoming angry. 

At the end of the week, when the saint returned to see the rich man, he found him to be peaceful and saw politeness in his face. The saint realized that the nail on the wall treatment has worked very well and said “See how the nails have spoiled the wall; similarly your anger was spoiling your mind! If you stop becoming angry, your life will be peaceful!” The rich man accepted saint’s words. The saint blessed the rich man and his wife. The rich man lively happily and peacefully.

Moral : Anger is the root cause of all the evils. One should control his anger, else anger can destroy him.

True Friendship

True Friendship

In a small town, there lived three friends a Popsicle, a Tomato and an Onion. They were best friends and they used to be always together. One day they were walking near a pond. Popsicle told that they all can swim in the pond. Tomato was hesitating to get into pond. But Onion and Popsicle asked him to swim. They all three jumped into the water. Popsicle melted in water and only the stick floated in the pond. Tomato understood that Popsicle is gone. Tomato and Onion started crying since they lost their friend. They became sad and came out of the pond.

Tomato and Onion started walking on the road. Tomato tried to cross the road along with the Onion. A fast truck on the road ran over the Tomato and crushed it. Onion called "Tomato! Tomato", but Tomato could not reply. Onion understood that Tomato is also gone. Onion started crying very badly. Onion kept crying for hours.

Seeing this, God came in front of the Onion and asked “Onion! Oh Onion! Why are you crying for a long time! “Onion asked “Who are you?". God told "I am God!” Onion replied “Ok God! Thank you for coming to me. I lost my friends. When Popsicle was gone, I and Tomato were there to cry for him. When Tomato was gone, I was there to cry for him. Now if I am gone, who will cry for me? This makes me sad, so I am crying!" God asked, “What can I do to give you happiness?” Onion told "I want someone to cry when I am also gone". God replied “Ok Onion! I grant you the wish you asked! From now on, everyone will cry when you are gone!” Onion was happy, from that day people get tears when they peel onions.

Moral : If you love your friends truly, God will help you always.
